I can say without doubt that Trapcode Particular is the best particle out there for After Effects. Particular is a powerfull particle system that has a bunch of features. You get stuff like fractal fields, the ability to use layers as ground planes for the particles to bounce on and custom sprites, wich alowes you to make your own custom particles. And this is just a few of the hundreds of features it has.
